Go!
We are destination people. We want to know how the story ends. The first clue I had about myself being this type of person was when I realized I was sitting in the theater at the end of the movie, waiting for the credits to roll by. I wasn’t reading them; I was waiting to see if there was going to be a final clip from the movie. You know many producers are doing this more and more. One more clip at the end for people like us who want to know how the story ends. The most memorable one for me is at the end of “Ferris Bueller’s Day off.” The credits and music fades to a black screen which comes to life again. We see Ferris walking down his hallway in his bathrobe. He looks directly into the camera… right into my eyes and says, “You’re still here? Why are you still here? Go home! Go!” I love that part because it reminds me and those of us who want to know how the story ends, that it is not always about the ending. Sometimes it is about whether or not we get up and go.
Where do you get the push to get up and go? When do you need the push that will help you achieve something you never thought possible? Don’t let failure, fatigue, or set-backs derail you, because even here there is learning. Too many people do nothing because of the paralysis of failure. So, why are you still here? Go!
